Anyone familiar with San Juan? Trying to figure out a hotel, and a lot of conflicting info on what areas to stay in. Don't care about the beach, mostly interested in exploring the city.

Spend a day or two at Old San Juan and explore the 2 Spanish forts. I'd also suggest taking a drive down across the Island, maybe to Ponce. The mountains and amazing to drive through.
Check out Hilton San Juan, Puerto Rico. I have not been there for a few years, but back then it was a decent place to stay. It is a short cab ride to old san juan and not to far from the airport. If you make reservations there ask for a by view.
Stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan...would recommend it. It has a casino, although I didn't go in...it sits on the bay where the cruise ships dock and you can walk pretty much anywhere in Old San Juan. The forts are on the other side of OSJ but they're only about a 15-20 minute walk.
Loved Old San Juan.
thanks for the suggestions.

I stayed at a condo on the beach with 5 friends, that was pretty sweet (as well as inexpensive), I wanna say it was about $150 per night but split up. There were hotels to the east of it, the Sheraton and another big one that were nice. I heard if you stay in the tourist areas, you're fine - they have more cops around there.
