Black Swan, The Fighter, or True Grit?
My wife and I are going to see a movie this weekend, a rarity as we have kids and no family in town. It's my bday so my wife is wanting me to choose.
I've narrowed it down to 3 choices, which are included in the title. I've read the threads on BS and TG and am conflicted between those two...throw in The Fighter, which looks really good and I love a good boxing flick, and I'm having a tough time.
Opinions?

Opinions? See all three if you can, but this is the order I would see them in
True Grit
Black Swan
Fighter.

True Grit.
I was really unimpressed with Black Swan. I'm not saying it was a bad film, but the sexual scenes were way over-hyped by media (and the male population in general) and I felt this was the reason the film was so talked about. It's a typical Aranofsky film where you watch someone's life spiral out of control. He does a fantastic job of portraying that in film, but if you have to choose one film from the list above I'd put BS in last place for sure.
I have not seen THe Fighter, but would put it above BS for potential alone.
True Grit was very very well done.

I would say The Fighter, True Grit, Black Swan.
The fighter is more about about Family than boxing, Bale should win for his role. If you go to it, stick around at the end to see the real life people.

True Grit - is Oscar worthy with both the movie and Jeff Bridges.

See The Figher, it's going to be a classic. Excellent story, great acting. Oscar worthy!

I'll wait for Netflix for The Fighter and True Grit. Not even going to bother with Black Swan - no amount of bigscreen T&A is worth finding myself in the dog house with my wife.

I've seen The Fighter and True Grit -- both good films that I really liked. But, if you're trying to make points with your wife, I'd take her to True Grit before The Fighter. My SO really liked True Grit.
But what SimpsonCy said about The Fighter is spot on.

The beauty of it is that chicks end up really liking Black Swan, so you might be able to get away with it.
I've only seen True Grit, but it was one of my favorite movies of the last 5 years. I strongly recommend it. I've heard great things about The Fighter, and I'm curious about Black Swan.

Re: Black Swan, The Fighter, or True Grit?
I saw both True Grit and The Fighter this weekend and I found them both to be excellent films.
I would say True Grit was better because Jeff Bridges's character was extremely well done as was Hailee Steinfeld's. It was definitely one of the best westerns I have seen in a long while.

I saw The King's Speech, it was really an impressive movie.
