It's been in DSM for a month or two. Was in the process of picking up a pack, but the clerk (who is the manager of this particular Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits) told me it's not much different than their Extra Stout, which I've definitely had before. I'll get around to it sooner or later.
However, I did manage to get my hands on this:
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.
Thats what I want know too.. Is this any closer to what they serve there? I wish we could find a way to duplicate that here. There are days when I want to fly to ireland just for a few beers
I wouldn't say it's an exact replica of a "pint of plain" correctly poured in Ireland. It however is a beer of tremendous character, with less head and a sweeter taste and higher alcohol content. You can tell right off that bat it's a formidable 7.5% ABV. It says "MALT LIQUOR" on the lower right back of the bottle.
