and when i saw Latin all I could think of was PCU when he told the guy, "you majored in a 2000 year old dead language? I got Sandscript, thats the best i can do" Sanskrit?
I'll agree that engineers are typically lacking in social skills but they do start out at a nice salary and the tiny few that do have social and business acumen become very rich.

But there are several sales industries where pay ranges between $100k-$1mm. This is exactly what I thought. If we are going to lump all sales positions into one category than we might as well start throwing "sanitation engineers" into the other side as well.
Most sales professionals that I work with, deal with, are friends with etc are for the most part making 6 figures right now and if they are not they are much closer to 6 figures than they are 50K.

I tend to avoid threads like this as it always turns into engineers and a few other groups bashing the rest of us who chose to go the business route in life.
I'll let what i make and the life I can give my family speak for itself not what what my degree says on it.

And just for fun, what if you majored in art history, but then went on to study at the London School of Economics? -

Actually, I don't really think sales people are much more well liked than engineers. On the one hand most engineers aren't that socially outgoing, but on the other sales people are perceived as being insincere. Whenever I interact with someone in sales, I always remember that everything they say or do is motivated toward selling their product. Personally I'd prefer socially awkward over sell mode any day.
However, even sales people are above "purchasing" people in my book. At least with a sales person, you know what they are doing and you can respect them for it. In my experience "purchasers" just spend half their time being wined and dined by sales people and almost seem to work more for the benefit of vendors than for the benefit of our own company.

It sounds like it morphed into "Human Development and Family Studies". From what I gather, there are a bunch of specialties within it - mostly dealing with kids in different aspects. My wife got a Psych minor and works in a psychiatric hospital now.

I wonder what was Sham-Wow Vince's major?

Re: Top 10 Most Worthless Majors
I minored in Latin at ISU and the faculty there had a pretty tough time getting approval for new courses for me and the 4 other kids in my class to continue taking each semester. Granted, ISU is not the best place to study for Latin or anything related to the classics, but I'm very glad I took it.
The bit about explaining the Latin etymology of big words to other people... that's totally me.

I have a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree, a minor in Design Studies, and a minor in Anthropology. I would also have a minor in Classical Studies if I would have finished Latin. I think that's a pretty solid resume. I didn't declare a major until the start of my 5th and final year when my advisor pretty much made me.
