Plows haven't even hit the side streets in Urbandale. Just got done snowblowing the driveway, wasn't too bad. The two-stage did fine and the snow drifts never got higher than the intake like they did last year.
My driveway was about 2' deep for the first 20 feet away from the garage, and it's about 1' the rest of the way to the street. Should have taken my wife up on the snow blower idea!
I came from Ankeny to the east side of Des Moines, so it's only about 10 miles, but I-35 and the portion of I-235 that I drove on were almost perfect. There was obviously spots where it was slick, but the majority of it you could hardly tell we've had any weather.
Side streets in Cedar Rapids hadnt been touched at 6am. Interstate was ok, I went about 45. The other main drags in town were ok except intersections had plowed drifts.
I just got to work on the south side of Des Moines, I live on the north side of Ankeny and took Highway 69 all the way in and the roads are in great shape. Traffic on 35/80 & NE 14th Street seemed to be moving along just fine.
Anyone been on Hwy 30 west of Ames? Trying to decide if driving to Carroll from Ames this morning will be possible..
I drove from the far west side of Ames to Nevada on HWY 30 this morning at about 5:00 and it wasn't bad at all. Not sure about west of Ames but I would think it would be about the same.
