This really amazes me
People are actually trying to steal copper and aluminum from active electrical utility substations. Stealing copper could kill you - Omaha.com -

Re: This really amazes me
It truly is amazing the extent to which some people will go to avoid getting actual jobs and working for money.
I remember a story last year where a guy from Indianola electrocuted himself while using a sawzall to try to take down a stretch of live power lines to sell the copper for scrap. Seriously, the rates they get for scrap copper is not worth it at all, especially when you're talking about power lines. Use some of that ingenuity and effort and get a job.

This is a great way to weed out the morons Originally Posted by alarson Evolution in action here. There is always a winner, if no one survives, we all win. If someone survives (last moron standing) they get pardoned for stealing, get to keep the money, then get a job placement test and get a real job. This of course would lead to many more seasons where we could have all the survivors who have relapsed try again. Ultimately, we all will win because either they die or actually become a productive member of society.

Re: This really amazes me
Natural selection, culling of the herd. Kind of like the old buffalo theory:
‘Well, you see, Norm, it’s like this… A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.’”

The company he worked for got a call regarding an emergency install that was needed. There was a new development of homes going up near town, but up on a hill and there currently wasn't any power going to the new neighborhood. The whole neighborhood had been setup on a temp generator, somebody forgot to pay a bill and the company that leased the generator showed up a few days before their big grand opening and removed it. Everything was in place locally, they just needed the utility company to run a line up there.
So over a period of a couple days they got about a mile of lines and poles put up and got power to the homes and everybody was happy. Sunday morning came and everyone arrived for the big grand opening event. They flipped the switch and...no power.
Some idiot or perhaps a band of them, realizing this was a new line and might not be energized yet, climbed up every pole and cut down the entire line in one night.

Re: This really amazes me
I'm always reminded of the demonstrations they did in elementary school when the power company guys came in with a nice big generator and hooked it up to a hot dog. We even had to leave the first few rows in the auditorium empty as a splash zone.

OK, I'll play. So if you know that reincarnation is real, what do they come back as? -
