Minnesota/Twin Cities...another colossal storm??
The next couple of days could be a little crazy. Some outlets are saying 6-12 inches, but check out what the MPR meteorologist is calling for, based on models: Updraft | Minnesota Public Radio
I am not ready for another 25 inches of snow. Forever trying to find a cure for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. -
Re: Minnesota/Twin Cities...another colossal storm??
Indeed, another wicked storm for areas of northern Iowa and across South Dakota and Minnesota... Looks like ~12" for the Twin Cities, with perhaps isolated areas reaching up to the 16-20" mark somewhere from eastern South Dakota into western Minnesota...
Winds will also be on the increase with blizzard conditions likely, thus blizzard warnings have been issued... Freezing rain will also be a problem near the I-90 corridor where a quarter inch of more of ice is possible this morning.
Shouldn't have let the warm weather the past few days spoil anyone, it is only February after all!!

Re: Minnesota/Twin Cities...another colossal storm??
I lucked out so far. Forecast I saw last night was 1 to 2 tenths of ice last night, and possibly a half inch of ice today.
Was still dry at 3:30 this morning; now raining (heard a little sleet and thunder also).

Rain and 61 here today. Not bad ;)
Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving. -
Re: Minnesota/Twin Cities...another colossal storm??
FYI- the pattern looks very very active over the next couple of weeks, I'd be somewhat surprised if at least 1 of the waves during this period didn't give Iowa a good snowstorm, the overall setup just looks very favorable for it.

Looks like the end of the week might be more nasty here in Iowa.

Re: Minnesota/Twin Cities...another colossal storm??
Here in my part of the metro, we finished up with 13 inches. Still may be a bit more to come, but looks like that's the bulk of it.
72.9" so far this winter!

We finished up with 17 inches and still expect 1-2 more.

Looking out my office window in Urbandale....mid 30s, no snow on the ground. I'll take it!

72.9" so far this winter! Downtown Minneapolis we got about a foot so far and it wasn't snowing when I came in to work at 0645, but when I last looked outside about half an hour ago it was snowing to beat the band again.
At least the wind has let up somewhat.

At least the wind has let up somewhat. I have today off so I haven't fired up the snowblower yet here in Golden Valley. Looks to be about the 13" that they measured at the Mpls airport. My neighbor, who likes to back into my drive because the alley is narrow, buried his car at the entrance to my driveway. Not sure why he thought his A4 could back through the 20" deep windrow the snowplow left there. He's backed over my shrubs and hostas before and I have asked him not to use my drive as his personal turnaround so I did not help him dig out.

I have a buddy in Anchorage who keeps texting me to snicker over the winter we have been having. That is a serious winter when some Alaskans can laugh about your suffering (both cold and snow).

Minneapolis can be renamed Son of Buffalo. 73 inches is good snowmobile country.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
