From my experience, you are out of luck. I've seen a coyote on TV who falls off cliffs, gets run down by trucks and gets smashed by falling rocks. Yet he survives! I think they are indestructable.
My suggestion is to try and eliminate your road runner population. That should drive the coyotes away.

Put your dogs and cats in the house for about two weeks. Soak some sponges in gravy and let them dry. Place them liberally around the areas of concern. After the two week period, clean up any leftover sponges, and let the dogs run. Keep the cats inside though; they are very destructive to songbirds.
