Does anyone actually talk on their cell phone anymore?

No texting. I make/receive about 20-30 calls a day. I'm <30 years old so the old fart comments don't apply. I'd rather call than text.

If I remember right, last month I had 6,459 text messages and 37 minutes used talking on the phone? Tons easier just e-mailing/texting/etc than using the actual "phone" part of my phone.

I talk a lot relative to others. I just don't like the constant back and forth of texting. If it's a "what time will you be here" deal then text but if it's "what's your plans for tonight?" then I call. It's just a pain to me.

This...why write a book via text rather than just make the phonecall. Pretty stupid.

Texting = convenient. I can respond to my girlfriend's texts and continue to do **** for school instead of being stuck talking to her on the phone and not getting anything done.

Texting also = very convenient for staying awake during class. Apparently profs get ****** if you talk on the phone during class? Works great when you're at work too.

For some, texts replace actual conversation. Usually coincidental to a lack of actual friends.

Don't have texting on the phone. When I want to talk to my wife or kids, I push the speed dial button. How much easier can it get?

This is spot on!! Texting eliminates the contrived small talk. And it saves so much time.

I think the phones are a big problem with the world today. People can't go two seconds without texting someone or checking FB/Twitter. Makes me wonder how we survived back in the day.

Anymore, I probably text 9 times out of 10 when I'm dealing with someone... whether family, friends, business. My wife and I rarely talk on the phone, but we'll text 25-50 times a day. If I do get a call, I'll have a small panic attack, let it go to voicemail and text or email them back. Hopefully I'm not the only social misfit around here, lol.

If you're 50 or over, you can remember when Archie Bunker used to pantomime committing suicide when his wife Edith would embark on one of her long and winding stories. That was me before texting.

I still crack up thinking of the times Archie would fake like he was loading a handgun, when Edith was talking, then put the gun to his head and play Russian-Roulette while she kept blabbing on, and on......I feel the same way around some women.
