Rulon is an awesome idea. So are the Expos.

I'm looking forward to watch the Fab 5 documentary. I think it airs on Sunday night.

If there's a "30 for 30" on the Bartman incident it should be more of an indictment about Cubs fans and the organization as a whole instead of what Cubs fans want it to be - one singular nerdy-looking guy costing the Cubs a World Series. That's exactly what it was going to be about. As far I as I understood it, it was to be a documentary about the exiling of Bartman by the fans and Chicago media, and basically a biographical account of Bartman's life leading up to, during, and after the incident.
By the way, the majority of Cubs fans don't blame Bartman. Anyone who actually followed the team blames Alex Gonzalez, the shortstop who booted an easy groundball that should have ended the inning.

And I have all kinds of respect for those kinds of Cubs fans (my brother-in-law included). Unfortunately, the "minority" is extremely vocal, and last I heard the Cubs still "rope off" Bartman's seat, which is just outright pathetic.

Re: ESPN: 30 for 30 Ideas
I want more stories about things I don't know about. Some of the suggestions are pretty well documented. I don't know what to suggest, but I know there have to be some compelling stories we know little to nothing about.

That is a really good idea, maybe could focus on a few individuals who were highly successful and fell into anonymity quickly or had difficulty with the transition, call it something like "From Gold to Gone".
I also like the Baylor idea and kind of am intrigued by Birdman too!

The 1994 Montreal Expos would be a good subject, and how the strike eventually led to the demise of that franchise. I would LOVE to see a doc done on that, but maybe in about 5-10 years, after the dust has settled from the Washington move a little more. That team was STACKED offensively, and their pitching (including the 22yo Pedro Martinez) was pretty good, too.

I'd like to see a John Caliperi one. Once he gets destroyed by the NCAA of course.

But I think that the public needs to have a small recognition otherwise I don't know if it will generate interest. We had a small understanding of Miami, an idea of of Marcus Dupree, we knew a little about SMU. I just think think if you know a little about something and see a documentary with more details it creates more interest.

In five years they can do a "fall or USC" or "fall of Auburn" football programs. The template has been laid out. The U and Pony Express were two very well done documentaries.

Yeah, but with the way the media is today, there have been 60 minutes stories on several of the topics laid out. I've seen an hour long special on The Birdman before... In today's media environment, they put these stories out and slam them down our throats...
I just am not sure if they can really add a lot more to what is already known. Maybe they could.

Re: ESPN: 30 for 30 Ideas
I'd like to see:
Floyd Landis, cyclist who was stripped of the 2006 Tour De France title for dopping, lying about it, then coming forward and pointing fingers.
Ronnie Harmon, former Cockeye running back who suddenly developed fumble-itis in the Rose Bowl. Was accused of taking money in the pros to shave points as well.
Deion Sanders, just because he was awesome to watch, awful to hear, then had a battle with depression and will be voted into the Hall of Fame.
Ted Turner, because he is a genius and also bat-**** crazy.
