ESPN: 30 for 30 Ideas
So I was doing a little reading and I found that Bill Simmons, the creator of the series(which I didn't know, but it makes sense because, well, who else in the ESPN brain trust would have the sense to do it?) has said that there will be a bunch more of these documentaries coming out. Some ideas are out already and there are some obvious ones (Mike Vick, Arod, Roger Clemens, etc) but I thought some on here would have some more interesting ideas. So far, I have liked the less well known stories or the more under the radar stories like The Two Escobars, The best that Never Was, A Night in Vegas. Here are some of the ones I would like to see and yes some are obvious ones.
-John Daly-Life Story
-Tiger Woods-Growing up. I think we know enough about the rest
-Jerry Tarkenian
-Bob Knight
-George Karl-Going through the health issues while vying for a championship
-Chris "Birdman" Anderson
-Pistons-Bad Boys Era (Dennis Rodaman has already doen a movie on himself otherwise that would be a good one)
-Dale Earnhardt or Jr.
-Danica Patrick
-Baylor and their enormous coverup and subsequent fallout

Or so I have read. -
Re: ESPN: 30 for 30 Ideas
I think Jack Trice would be a great 30 for 30

Re: ESPN: 30 for 30 Ideas
I would like to see one about the murder at Baylor. What is the night in Vegas one about?

Another one is Mark Cuban. I don't know what angle you take but you would get some interesting stuff.

It was basically about how Tupac recorded a song for Mike Tyson to walk into the ring to, they tried to make it seem like they were best friends, but they barely knew each other, it was in my opinion by far the worst documentary of the 30 for 30 series.
The 1994 Montreal Expos would be a good subject, and how the strike eventually led to the demise of that franchise.

Re: ESPN: 30 for 30 Ideas
One of my favorites was the one on the USFL (I think that was a 30 for 30). Steve Young talking about racing his teammates to cash their paychecks because they knew there weren't enough funds to cover all of them was pretty funny. I agree a story on John Daly would be pretty good,

I think the Baylor coverup/fallout would be a good one. Maybe something on Rulon Gardner

Re: ESPN: 30 for 30 Ideas
I'm still waiting for the Bartman one to come out.

Re: ESPN: 30 for 30 Ideas
Rulon, Baylor and Expos would all be great ones. So many things you could do with a Rulon Gardner doc, especially looking at him now on Biggest Loser. It would be very interesting to delve into the psyche of these people who spend the entire first part of their adult lives training for one moment, go from anoynomous to sensation back to anoynomous in the blink of an eye, and then have no clue what to do with the rest of their lives.

Just a few random thoughts.
Lawrence Phillips
85 Bears
Jack and Arnold
Dream Team
On a side note my favorites have been The Two Escobars and Once Brothers.

I completely agree that the one about the Baylor killing and cover up would be very interesting.

The only reason why there would even be a "Bartman one" is because Cubs fans and players blew it out of proportion in the first place (let's blame the nerdy looking guy who just happened to touch it and none of the other 25 people around him trying to catch that ball) and because more than 7 years later Cubs fans still can't let it go.
If there's a "30 for 30" on the Bartman incident it should be more of an indictment about Cubs fans and the organization as a whole instead of what Cubs fans want it to be - one singular nerdy-looking guy costing the Cubs a World Series.

Re: ESPN: 30 for 30 Ideas
I would rather see the story about the Dirty Thirty instead of Jack Trice for a story with an ISU angle.
