In Ames the Kof C at St. Cecilia and St. Thomas Aquinas alternate the Fridays of lent. They do a good job.

Are you trying to go for food, or to pick up women?

The ever popular fish dinners return to the social hall and kitchen on Fridays March 11, April 1, and April 15 from 5-7 pm. ... The St. Thomas Aquinas council will host a supper on March 25 and April 8.

Hey the KC at St Malachy's in Madrid, Iowa have a great fish fry. They have both a fish and shrimp option with backed potato, corn, beans and homemade desserts to pick from. There is also homemade mac & cheese for the kiddies or to substitute for corn and beans. They also offer call in and carry out 515-795-2613. Serving time 4:30-7 P.M. dates to be held March, 11 & 18 April 1,15,22nd.

St Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee has a good one. I think they do baked and fried fish, fried shrimp and Cheese Pizza for the little ones. “It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...” – columnist Sean Keeler, Des Moines Register -

At Mary Our Queen, I've waited in line for 3 hours before getting served food, luckily they have kegs strategically placed as the line zigzags through (and out of ) the Catholic school.

Re: Where are some good fish fry's?
I live in Waukee and travel to Polk City just to get to their American Legion fish fry. It is GREAT!!! All you can eat and very good variety of fish. You just have to call them to find out what weeks they do it.

This is either the best or one of the top two in the Omaha area per the fire fighter crews that hit up all of the area fish fry's. The other one that got high marks was in the small town of Fort Calhoun about 20 miles north of Omaha. Holy name probably rounds out the top 3 in the Omaha area.

We did hit up Holy Name a few times too. Seriously, if you're looking for a fun time on a Friday night and Omaha is a driveable distance, the fish frys are a blast.
Also, they get you filled up with beer and then have old ladies selling raffle tickets for pies and steaks and who knows what else. I won a 38" LCD TV on a fish fry raffle!
