Grant Hill responds to Jalen Rose
I know many of you watched the Fab 5 30 for 30 on Sunday, and Jalen had some pretty outspoken things to say.
Pretty powerful response by Grant Hill. Grant Hill's Response to Jalen Rose - NYTimes.com Twitter: @HBforTHREE

Re: Grant Hill responds to Jalen Rose
Doesn't surprise me at all that Grant Hill went the classy route but also got his point across that he didn't care for Jalen Rose's "Uncle Tom" comments. Hill has always been a class act.

Re: Grant Hill responds to Jalen Rose
I do believe Jalen though when he says he was describing how he felt when he was 17...might not have explained it that well but Jalen Rose has proven to be first class as well. I am sure a lot of African-American kids growing up in urban areas feel that way toward Duke. I don't think it would surprise anyone if young adults in urban areas felt this way. Nothing wrong with being honest...

Re: Grant Hill responds to Jalen Rose
It's basically like kids growing up in the hood looking at Tiger woods. Back when Tiger was killing it. Do you think they really related to a golfer like Tiger? No. I am sure white kids growing up in the suburbs identified with him more
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

That was amazing. Thanks for posting.
That last sentence is his is right on the edge of a wry grin and a laugh out loud line. Nice touch.

Re: Grant Hill responds to Jalen Rose
I just didn't like the "Uncle Tom" label. Grant Hill wanted to go to an elite academic institution and play for one of the best college basketball programs. He won two national championships, got a degree from Duke and had a decent NBA career that has been plagued with injuries. He should be held in a positive light with his race

Positive Rep for Grant Hill and the way he handled it! I think Adrian Peterson needs to take a lesson on proper etiquette from Grant Hill!

Re: Grant Hill responds to Jalen Rose
Grant's response seemed unnecessarily defensive to me. I assumed, maybe wrongly, as well that Jalen was recounting how he felt at the time. I would agree to that it was and probably is somewhat common. Now, Grant's points could well be relevant given that, but they would need to be redirected somewhat more broadly rather than at Jalen, I think.
This was the first 30-30 that I've seen much of and I enjoyed it.
Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving. -

Nothing wrong with being honest... So many people seem to be missing that. Doesn't make it a great thing to say, but I believe he was just trying to give some insight into the mindset of the angry 17 year-old he was, not what he necessarily believes now.

Nothing wrong with being honest... Not only that, but Jalen admitted he was jealous of Grant Hill's good home and parents and resented him for that when he was 18. Just the truth. I have no idea why there needed to be a response.
