DM nightlife for old, fat, married dudes
I've got two cousins flying in from California for a family funeral in DSM. They are counting on me to show them a good time. I haven't spent much time in Des Moines for over 15 years. What should we do? Nothing like "Hangover" crazy but fun for a few middle-aged, overweight dads.

Rent some Red Box flicks and stay home.
Actually make it a NCAA party.
Drive them up to Minneapolis for some real nightlife.
Has Twin Peaks made it to DSM yet? Eat out.
Or check Craig's or Angie's List for options. http://www.iowanightlife.com/
If you strike out there for being overweight:

If you like micro brews, check out El Bait Shop. Or if you want a flashback to the 70s, go next door to High Life.

Taking into account old dudes and ncaa tournament I would say: park at 3rd and court and hit highlife, johnny's hof, cabco. Possibly hessan haus and royal mile also.

Embarrass yourselves at Jethro's by taking on the Emmenecker Challenge. Fun place, lots of tvs for game watching.

You can't beat dinner and a movie at Jordan Creek. Hit the food court and then catch a movie at the theater next door. Mars Needs Moms is showing in 3D right now, and their website says they have loveseat seating available!
Otherwise, I would also recommend the High Life Lounge.

Sounds like great minds think alike. Just do the rounds of High Life, slip next door to bait shop, and stumble over to the Hessen House. If they need a little culture after that, go to the Lumberyard.

I would suggest Raccoon River. Microbrews and rentable pool tables by the hour. Not to leave out the great food. Plus tack on a few more pounds with Deseret may I suggest the bananas foster. -

Have supper, do a boot, move on to High Life and Bait Shop.

the Star Bar on Ingersoll is sweet, they just reopened their sister restaurant (formerly Azaleas), the Kirkwood Lounge (4th & Walnut)...
Go across the street to Fongs (get picture w/kamikazi helmets) then
Royal Mile
Hessen Haus
High Life/El Bait
Hit Shorty's its in the basement of Sbrocco
late night hit the Court Ave Brewry for some root down shots...
