Buying New Appliances...
Finishing up the purchase of our first home and going to need to buy a few appliances... To start off with I'm looking at fridges:
Doing research thus far it seems like I am going to want to stay away from LG and Samsung, first because they are seemingly more expensive and they don't seem to have great reliability. Essentially I'm looking into ones less than $1000, preferably ~$800 or less...
I currently am thinking between Whirlpool, Kenmore and a Whirlpool Gold that I can get for a good deal, any recommendations between these? Whirlpool Side-by-Side Kenmore Side-by-Side Whirlpool French Door -- Can get for ~$800

Re: Buying New Appliances...
You may find out the Kenmore refrigerator is actually a Whirlpool model with the Kenmore name since Whirpool makes a lot of Kenmore appliances. If you have the room, I would recommend the French Door vs a side by side, you'll be amazed at how much more room you have, especially in the freezer.
I will disagree with you on the reliability of LG appliances, they are far better than the Whirlpool I owned. I replaced three ice makers in the Whirlpool side by side I owned, never had a problem with any of the LG appliances I own. Appliance411 The Purchase: Who makes Sears Kenmore? -
Re: Buying New Appliances...
Look into things most appliances are made by a few companies but are sold by many. In other words a Maytag maybe the same fridge as a Whirlpool or come out of the same factory.

I'll look tomorrow at the model of the Kenmore to see who actual manufactures it, I know that many brands are simply re-badged. We should have space for the french door I posted above and looking more into it I do think that would be a nice option for space... Originally Posted by Wesley LG is on the rise. Please DO NOT buy whirlpool, they screwed Newton and the state big time. I have a LG and very happy.

Re: Buying New Appliances...
My advice: Ask the store if they have any scratch-and-dent models. We just got an $1800 fridge for $1000 because there was a dent on the side near the bottom. It will be completely covered by a wall in our kitchen, so nobody will ever see it.
Also, don't forget to check out the local appliance dealers as well. Normally they're a bit more expensive, but in this economy, you may be able to get a good deal. Plus, they tend to have better service than Sears, Lowes, etc. We just got all new Maytag dishwasher, fridge (scratch and dent), microwave (scratch and dent), double-wall-oven, all stainless steel for our kitchen. Added Whirlpool front-load washer and dryer, and got it all for $5,300 including installation and haul away. We priced the same, or very similar models, through Lowes and we still came in just a bit cheaper than Lowes. And the customer service we experienced from the locally-owned company was better than anything we've ever had at a big box store.
