Guthrie County recently gave by a $300k grant back to Iowa b/c they didnt want to help maintain a bike trail connecting Coon Rapids, the Whiterock Conservancy, Bayard & Bagley to the Raccoon River Valley Trail (the one that runs from WDM to Jefferson)..
Guthrie County is #65, so they are fat & stupid...
Guthrie County is smart didn't want to give anymore money to the Garsts.
There is a bunch of areas over there, basically wherever there is an oxbow lake on the river. When they channelized the Mighty Mo it left some areas on the other side of the original river channel and boundaries.
Based on the frequent letters to the editor (in the DMR), I was under the impression that the livestock industry in Iowa was ruining the health of Iowans. Apparently, the folks in Sioux county (#2 healthiest) have not gotten the word yet. (Sioux county has the highest livestock inventory of any county in the United States.)
