If you're using Pandora it's time to switch to Slacker

Meh, I guess Im not too worried about the information they get on me. It sucks, dont get me wrong, but 1000's of companies do it. Wont be long until Slacker does the same. Until there is a concrete law forcing these companies to stop it, we wont see any changes.

Or users could vote with their feet and make use of products that don't do such activities and let the market punish those who misuse their trust.
Asteroids are nature's way of asking "How's that space program going?" -

For every one person who stands against it, there are 20 who dont know/dont care. Power unfortunately is in the hands of the person or group who is willing to sue. Just not alot who can afford it.

Are there ads in the mobile app if you're a subscriber? There's no ads in Slacker's mobile app. At least not if you're subscriber.

As far as the computer version is concerned. I would switch to Grooveshark.

Oh, if you're using an Android phone and rooted try AdFree. It blocks apps from contacting the most popular ad servers and it updates it's list daily or on demand.

How dare they share my age and gender, or that I live in the midwest!!!!! Get a life people, if it was real personal information then maybe people would care.
I don't understand what the big deal is? They are offering you an outstanding service for free. You are going to get the ads anyways, why not let them make a tad more money for the FREE service they are giving you by having the ads better targeted to you.
God forbid I would have to see an ad for a business that operates in my area gears toward young males rather than one for One a Day for women. Such a breach of privacy!

I think Apple pulled it from itunes as well. The pc one is good, I have used it.

Completely agree. Maybe I'm biased because I work in the advertising business or maybe I'm just more informed, but none of the information that these sites are gathering are personal what so ever. The Census collects more personal information than they do and you don't even have a choice for that. I would much rather someone know that I'm a young male that lives in WI and serve me ads that are relevant. By the way, while your bashing Pandora for knowing your gender, location and music taste, stop and think for about two seconds how much information Facebook probably has about you.
I'll let you chew on that for a while.

I'll let you chew on that for a while. I'd say quite the opposite. Did you even read the article? They are collecting the android_id which is a unique identifier for your device. That's pretty personal if you ask me.
