More Details Released on Keokuk County Deputy's Shooting
Quote:
A firefight between three Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Jeffrey A. Krier lasted for 40 minutes last Monday in an incident that claimed the life of Sgt. Eric Stein, an investigation released today found.
Also, after a three-hour standoff after Stein’s death, Krier was shot multiple times but continued to move and fired at least one shot before succumbing to the 23 entry wounds to his body, according to a report from Deputy Attorney General Thomas H. Miller.
The investigation found that deadly force used against Krier was justified, Miller said.

I am as strong of a proponent of the second amendment as there is, but the guy involved should not have had any guns. He had a history of mental illness.
Sad story.

They were pinned down and obviously were outgunned and had no way to escape, Miller said
I'm trying to figure out how 3 deputies were outgunned by one guy and how they got "pinned down" in the first place.

Holy crap. Once that officer was shot in front of the other two, I'm guessing they fired every round they had at the guy and rightfully so. You know there's going to be some backlash about shooting him so many times unfortunately.
Must of been high on PCP or something, people become super human on that stuff.

Must have had the high ground and a rifle.

He had to have a kevlar suit or some sort of body armor...like those bank robbers in LA years ago...
Sounds like he had a slug gun so he may have just been unloading slugs at a high rate...along with body armor might explain how he was able to pin them down...I know if there were slugs being launched at me I'd be trying to find cover rather than firing back...
And he must've gotten hit with a shotgun at some point with 29 entry wounds...

Because the suspect shot and disabled their vehicles and they were surrounded by open fields. The suspect had a whole house for cover. He was ready for a gun battle.
