Reformatting external hard drive

Hey all, anyone know how to reformat a Lacie external hard drive? (One of these guys: LaCie - Rugged Hard Disk - FireWire 800, FireWire 400 & Hi-Speed USB 2.0)

I've got one attached to my Macbook and when I powered up the computer I got an error message saying I needed to backup the files and reformat. I backed up the files I need to save, but can't figure out how to reformat the drive. I went to Applications-->Utilities-->Disk Utilities and did the "First Aid" Verify and Repair, but it says it can't repair the disk and it needs to be reformatted.

Am I missing something here??

Thanks. Will give it a shot...tried a pretty lengthy google search but nothing really seemed to be quite right.
