As a citizen and former citizen of countries that freed themselves from British rule violently and non-violently, I can say that I couldn't care less about the royal wedding. I mean, congrats to the happy couple, and may their marriage be better than that between Diana and Charles, but for me it's nothing more than any other overhyped celebrity wedding.

I struggle to see why this is newsworthy. The British Royal Family are nothing but powerless inbreds who have a luxurious lifestyle supported by their citizens tax dollars all in the name of tradition.
My alarm is set, I have my Kleenex box ready (even though I told myself I wouldn't cry) and I can't wait to see the most glorious wedding of all time. It's going to be magical.

I hear you. It seemed absurd and embarassing that there were deadly storms in the US that killed over 200, and you turn on the news this morning, and all the media clowns are in the UK covering the wedding. You could almost sense their pain as they wanted to blather on about the wedding and be excited, but they had to deal with the unfortunate reality of the US deaths.Quote:

I'd have to say that the disaster in Japan, the current disasters in the American South, the oil spill, and others are a bit more important than the royal wedding. But I do agree that even with the important stories, the media will pick up some minor, relatively unimportant aspect and beat you over the head with it.Quote:
