Re: Royal Wedding Fever
As a citizen and former citizen of countries that freed themselves from British rule violently and non-violently, I can say that I couldn't care less about the royal wedding. I mean, congrats to the happy couple, and may their marriage be better than that between Diana and Charles, but for me it's nothing more than any other overhyped celebrity wedding.

I say this truthfully, I'm actually glad that I'm deployed right now. I get to miss out on such things as this, the Japan disaster, the oil spill last year and whatever else that has happened. The American media absolutely kills us with stories like these. I mean, does it really matter that the Prince of Whateversville is getting married?

Re: Royal Wedding Fever
Call me when they start planning the royal divorce.
I still won't care.

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there. -

I guess I find it intriguing because it's something that doesn't happen very often, and Kate Middleton certainly puts to rest the "unattractiveness" of the British. But in short, about the only reason why I "care" is because HLN (which is an outright crap media source - I'd rather watch regular CNN but would even prefer Fox News over this crap) is the only news feed I get at work, so because it's up on my desktop and I won't have much else to do tomorrow anyway it'll get some of my attention.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -
Re: Royal Wedding Fever
I struggle to see why this is newsworthy. The British Royal Family are nothing but powerless inbreds who have a luxurious lifestyle supported by their citizens tax dollars all in the name of tradition.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -
Re: Royal Wedding Fever
My alarm is set, I have my Kleenex box ready (even though I told myself I wouldn't cry) and I can't wait to see the most glorious wedding of all time. It's going to be magical.

Re: Royal Wedding Fever
She's attractive, and that is my only take on the entire wedding.

Re: Royal Wedding Fever
my wife asked if we can DVR it, does that count?

It seemed absurd and embarassing that there were deadly storms in the US that killed over 200, and you turn on the news this morning, and all the media clowns are in the UK covering the wedding. You could almost sense their pain as they wanted to blather on about the wedding and be excited, but they had to deal with the unfortunate reality of the US deaths.
What a joke. But we get what we deserve. "Journalism" and the "news" has been shifting to People magazine celebrity watching for years.

Re: Royal Wedding Fever
I wonder what the final cost will be for the wedding? Its seems like a lot of tax payer dollars to spend in this economy. And I'm sick of hearing about it.

Sports journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read. -

I'd have to say that the disaster in Japan, the current disasters in the American South, the oil spill, and others are a bit more important than the royal wedding. But I do agree that even with the important stories, the media will pick up some minor, relatively unimportant aspect and beat you over the head with it.
