Tailgate Flag Pole
Ok so I know this topic has been discussed before but I dont want to try and dig for the thread.
I am wanting roughly a 15 ft. tailgate flag pole for when my beloved Cyclones are playing during fall Saturdays. But I am having trouble putting the blue prints together and what I should use. I want some thing light weight like pvc, however, Lowe's only carries the schedule 40 PVC and is very flimsy. Also, when I want it to break down into 3- 5" ft sections for easy storage, but using slip couplers make it very flimsy as well.
Does anyone else have any suggestions on what they found worked out and also how they anchor it to the ground?

Re: Tailgate Flag Pole
I bought one from this dude on Ebay: 20 ft Tailgate Flagpole w/ Tire Wheel Stand Tailgating | eBay
It's quality and will last a long time and I didn't have to mess with buying materials and taking the time to build it.
*EDIT: We actually went with the 28'... it's pretty awesome! http://cgi.ebay.com/28-Tailgating-Ta...item53e6bbb30e -

You'll need one of these too in order to get the wheel stand under the wheel. 3 Ton Floor Hydraulic Jack | eBay -

Re: Tailgate Flag Pole
Here is what works for me. Our poles are 24' tall with 6' X 8' flags on them
Go to lowes / Menards / HD -
Buy 1" EMT (Thinwall) conduit from the electrical department
Cut it into the appropriate lengths
Purchase some 18" X 3/4" nipples from the electrical department or plumbing department. Aluminum IMC is your best best - but you will have a hard time find that. If you are going more then 15' I would go to an electrical supply house and purchase 3/4" aluminum IMC conduit. Galvanized nipples might add too much weight.
The 3/4" rigid pipe will fit tight into to 1" EMT. Insert it 9" deep. I apply some JB weld to half of it to make sure it stay in place.
Let the JB weld dry then stack them all together
Install an eye bolt on the top section and a pulley.
I am gussing you are looking at less then $20 total
If this doesn't make sense PM me and I will send some pics.
Good luck!

Re: Tailgate Flag Pole
sched 80 pipe is more rigid. I have 2 8' pieces and a coupler, sits in the stake hole on the F150
