I agree, but "elimination" is easier said than done, if not impossible - therefore a fallacy. Do it wrong, and you create more.

I think we have to settle in for a long haul. Sort of like the "new cold war" like era (in that it may last 3+ decades) To me, the key is how to sustain it? Fareed Zakaria (with agreement from Ari Fleisher) talked about the role of intel + special ops being more effective, and cheaper than larger forces occuppying territory.

There has always been and always will be terrorism, though al qaeda took it to a whole new level. I agree with Zakaria and Fleisher that good intel plus special ops and police action are what bring results, not spending trillions of dollars and thousands of lives trying to occupy countries. Too bad we didn't listen to John Kerry when he was telling us that 7 years ago.
