I'm not on here to get "told" what's going on in the sports world. I'll reply to a thread, or start my own. I'm sure you sit in front of the radio and listen to sports talk all day. You think because they have a radio show they're experts and they can tell you what to think?
Isn’t arguing about which wastes more time - sports radio or internet forums - like arguing about which burger is more unhealthy for you - a Big Mac or a Whopper?
After we settle both of these, let’s tackle the question of which is more scenic - rural Iowa or rural Illinois.
So far I am happy with Brinson but I simply can't stand Miller. His voice just grates on me. Not sure why, and maybe it's just me.
Brinson seems like he has a wealth of knowledge. Hopefully this remains true. Also I wonder if he voice is partly an act, because there have been times where it completely changes from that awesome radio voice.
I have always enjoyed Miller's takes on most subjects. He is interesting and is also fair in covering Iowa State and Iowa. So far, the new guy in town, Brinson seems to be a good compliment to Miller. However, at times he does get on my nerves. I am not sure what it is yet, but sometimes he is awkward and goofy and it almost makes me tune out. For example, yelping or singing every segment. Should be interesting to see if that is his style or if he is only doing it because he isn't familar with his co-host yet.
What are your thoughts on him?
He hasn't figured out the right tone for central Iowa. Too many -- distantly inappropriate references (double entendres) or just obscure references that I don't get.
Also, I have to wonder if he would sound like he does had he never been on the radio or TV. Frankly, I wonder if he sounds like that if you meet him in person. It feels like a great radio voice 35 years ago, where now it sounds fake, forced, cheesy.
Or perhaps he just sounds too much like Gary Dolphin.
All in all, though, I'm OK with him. Like others have said, the true test will be how he does with local college sports starting in the fall.
May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)
