Speakers
Anyone have any suggestions for a good speaker system? I don't want to spend too much, ($100 or so) and I don't need them to be anything spectacular. I just want them for listening to music. (Or perhaps surround sound if there is a good deal.)
Should I pay more and go all in with high quality, loud bass, good brand...?
What do you guys have? Are yours any good? thanks

Re: Speakers
1) Do you already have a receiver/amp or do you need that too?
2) What size room is the system going in?
3) What is your source going to be ie computer, ipod, turntable?
4) Are you satisfied with earbuds that come standard with an mp3 player/smartphone?
100 bucks is a pretty tight budget but it can be done if you hunt. I have a 40 dollar vintage Marantz amp + 70 dollar pair of bookshelf speakers (can't remember the brand off the top of my head anymore) from college that sounds pretty amazing for the total price but it only really works in a smaller room like a bedroom.

Re: Speakers
1) find out what kind of speakers they used at Jack Trice the last couple years
2) feel safe in purchasing whatever brand does not match

Re: Speakers
These are more than you said you want to spend, but I would highly recommend them.
I have spent way too much money on speakers and home theater systems in my life. I have owned many of the name brands you would be familiar with and for the money, I think these speakers will compete and out perform most speakers that cost several times as much (I have a pair of B&W CM1 speakers and I think these SVS speakers give the B&W's a run for the money). Plus, they're on sale now and if you ever expand your system, these work great as rear speakers in a Home Theater surround system. SVSound - Speakers

What do you guys have? Are yours any good? thanks It would be useful to know what you are using them for. Do they need to be powered or not?
I have a much older version of these that sound very good relative to the price. Amazon.com: Logitech THX-Certified Speaker System Z623: Electronics -
Re: Speakers
I will be using them in my apartment. The noise really only needs to fill about 25'x25'.
I looked into some wireless speakers but they start around $225. I might be interested in just spending the extra cash. Thanks for the help

Re: Speakers
If you're leaning towards PC speakers and you're not a base head, these are the best PC speakers I've ever heard. Before these I had a Altec Lansing Surround System with a sub. Amazon.com: M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 Powered Speakers: Computer & Accessories
Do yourself a favor and don't buy wireless speakers if you want to go cheap and get good sound quality.

Re: Speakers
These are well worth the $34.50 compared to speakers from Big Box. Best of all, if you are inclined to tinker, there are a few documented mods to improve the sound significantly. Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair -
