In need of short-term housing

My family will be in need of a place to live starting in late June in or around Ames. We are building a new home and need a short-term option (3-6 months) until the house is completed. 2-3 bedrooms are needed. We have found out how difficult it is in Ames to get a short-term lease, especially starting before August 1st.

Any help/opinions would be appreciated.

We are in the same boat. I just moved to Ames 3 weeks ago and the wife and 2 kids are back in Lincoln, NE until I can find a 3-4BR house/townhouse/duplex suitable to rent. This whole August 1st-July 31st thing in Ames is ridiculous. I've had some luck in finding smaller places in Ankeny, but that's about it. Finding a place with 3 bedrooms on one level (wife's decision since the kids are small) that also accepts a pet also hinders the search.

Craigslist has been the most help in the search so far, but it doesn't help with the short term lease beyond 2 month subleases.
