Re: Birthday spanking=Bad
I think it's a little weird at the very least. "Happy Birthday! Now go to the principal's office so he can spank you."

Sorry, I was agreeing with you that it was weird. I added the picture to emphasize that. I would find it concerning if I had kids and they told me that was going on. Seems rather creepy.
Re: Birthday spanking=Bad
When I am out at night and I see a bunch of girls celebrating a birthday I always give a birthday spanking. Other than that though, it does seem kind of weird.

I guess I picture it a different way.
I pictured a bunch of young kids laughing and havening fun after one of their classmates was called to the principals office.

Wierd? Yes.
Warranting a total freak-out by some parents? No.
Criminal act? Strictly speaking, yes (battery - unauthorized touching) but the country attorney should use some prosecutorial discretion here and let this slide by as there was not intent to harm anyone.
Re: Birthday spanking=Bad
I like to give my wife a Birthday spanking. And a Groundhog Day spanking. And a Memorial Day spanking. And a Columbus Day spanking. And a...well...you get the picture.

Wow, you can take that 1 of 2 ways...either way, it's not right!

Uh...yeah.

Yeah, as a kid I probably would have seen it that way too. But as an adult I think it seems a little creepy.
Re: Birthday spanking=Bad
Is this a huge deal? Probably not. You would like to think, however, that someone with the advanced education necessary to be a principal would perhaps consider that some people may take offense to their child being spanked by an authority figure at school. As innocent as it may seem with the big sawed off American Gladiators pugil stick, you know some parents are going to see it as a perverted adult carrying out some sick fantasy. As a professional, and especially as a principal, you should have the foresight to see that this is going to cause some problems.

[QUOTE=dmclone;2262190]Since I don't have kids I don't know if this is common but I remember when I was a kid my mom would always give me a birthday spanking. Seems a little weird to do it a school but at the same time seems pretty harmless. I don't think I would have problem with it if I had a child.
Thoughts?
Hmmmm when did she stop giving you birthday spankings? I know I'm still receiving mine from her each year
