Discover Card 1% Cashback
Just found out Discover card now only gives you one 1/4% cashback up to the first $3,000 each year. When did this start? Anyone have suggestions for another card with no annual fee and at least 1% cashback on all purchases with no limits?

I thought it was because I had Sam's Club Discover, I did not realize it was all Discover cards. I have had a pretty small cash back amount from Discover forever. I only use it at Sam's. I have a Visa through Charles Schwab that gives 2% cash back on all purchases. They deposit the money into your brokerage account though. You can withdraw it whenever.

It applies after a larger threshold is met.
Also, the cashback bonus credited to the account has to be in increments of $50, not the previous $20 increments. It takes longer to get the $50 credit towards the account. They want you to use gift cards instead.
Discover is accepted at fewer places too.
A MC I use just had it's cashback bonus changed. It was for cashback on car purchases. Now it's only for merchandise. I would think the auto companies stopped paying the rewards.
Another MC card was a Shell 5% cashback card 10 years ago and that was dropped in favor of a 1% for everything.
My ISU MC pays no rewards. The 1%, or whatever it is, goes to ISU instead. I don't know what ISU gets. It's not published.
My AMEX card rewards program just got more expensive per year. The annual fee is now $95 per year.
Do you think that the recent banking legislation in Congress had something to do with all of these changes? You bet it does.

Re: Discover Card 1% Cashback
Yep, you are right:
You automatically earn up to 1% Cashback Bonus on all your other purchases. You will earn 1% unlimited Cashback Bonus on purchases after your total annual purchases exceed $3000; purchases that are part of your first $3000 earn .25%. Warehouse purchases (those made at select warehouse clubs, discount stores and their affiliates) earn .25%. We do not include warehouse purchases or 5% category purchases in calculating your total annual purchases.

Re: Discover Card 1% Cashback
I've been happy with my Costco AmEx. The fee is the same as paying a yearly membership to Costco and I get cash back.
1% cash back
2% for travel
3% for dining and gas

Not capital one; but this is a very good card. 2% on everything and no annual fees. The rewards can be deposited in a Fidelity account, a Fidelity IRA or a Fidelity 529 plan. Fidelity Rewards American Express® Cards -

Re: Discover Card 1% Cashback
For Wells Fargo customers, their rewards program is pretty good on their credit/debit cards...1% back on all credit card purchases and 1/4% on all debit card transactions (when you run it as credit).
I also have a Royal Caribbean card that gave me 15,000 points ($150 of RC cash) for signing up and I get 1 point per $1 spent or 2 points per $1 spent with Royal Caribbean.

Re: Discover Card 1% Cashback
I am looking into getting a new credit card. I only use one at the moment with Wells Fargo and I am not happy with the "rewards program." I am pretty lost when it comes to picking the right card for me but seeing how I spend about $175 on gas each week I would like to think there is a better credit card out there and getting SOMETHING in return for giving my right arm everytime I fill the tank. Any suggestions?
