Motorola Xoom/Apple iPad
Anybody have these? Compliments/Complaints? Pro/Con? Where to find a good buy on one of them? Looking at buying one and was wondering what people have had good luck with or any advice on them.

Have read that XOOM is overpriced (well all tablets are) and obsolete. Samsung Galaxy and ASUS Transformer are better bang for the buck and cost less then XOOM.
i would really like to get a tablet, but it sounds like all this first and second generation technology still has a lot of bugs to work out.
Ipad2 is still probably considered the standard bearer, but it has its share of issues too. Most "complete" tablet available, but you are restricted by apples built in constraints.
Technology in this market is going to be expanding at a huge rate (more-so then morre's law) Over time this should drive down prices and make cost more reasonable for what you are getting. The OS need to work out the bugs, but both android and iOS have pros and cons

First thing is that the Samsung is a 7 inch screen compared to the Xoom at 10.1. Just don't know which one I like more.

HP Touchpad with WebOS comes out tomorrow. Worth a look if you haven't checked it out yet. I have been using WebOS for 2 years and love it. I'm excited to try it out on a tablet if I can affor one someday.

Re: Motorola Xoom/Apple iPad
I have both. The honeycomb tablets are best at email (if you use Gmail) and iPad is better at everything else.
Battery on iPad is way way better than Xoom.
Even gmail I usually grab for the iPad though because it feels like it's always in sync; like the wifi is always on. The Xoom takes a while to get back in gear; even with the wifi set to be on when powered off.
Honeycomb doesn't have much for apps yet. Gotten a lot better the last few weeks, but still needs more time.
For sure go iPad for now.
I have an iPhone and several Androids and lately I usually use the GS2 (Android) so I'm not some Apple only fanboy.

I noticed hat the Xoom is running 3.0/3.1 Honeycomb, which is better than 2.2 Froyo for now.

Re: Motorola Xoom/Apple iPad
I bought the Acer Iconia Tab W500. Its a Windows 7 based tablet and I like it so far. I've had it for about 2 weeks. Read the reviews on Amazon and they pretty much hit the nail on the head. It's a tablet that can run real programs (MS Office, Remote Desktop, etc.) The negatives to it are that Win 7 isnt the most tablet friendly, and because it's running Windows, its slightly slower. I recommend giving it a look though.

Thats the old galaxy tab, take a look at the new galaxy tab 10.1, or the asus transformer. Both very nice.

Re: Motorola Xoom/Apple iPad
If you want Android tablet I'd wait. Google will have both a phone and tablet later this year with Android 4 on it.

They can't even get sd card support or 4g on the Xoom so I wouldn't hold out for a quick Android 4 update. Plus by then they might get hardware that's as good as the current gen iPad.

It was VERY simple, elegant and I thought had great potential in a tablet. I will seriously look at this device. The only question I have is that since the hardware on the Palm Pre was so awful, it didn't gain much traction in the marketplace.
I REALLY wish Palm would have licensed it's OS out to other handset developers before they sold out to HP (and before google started with Android)

Re: Motorola Xoom/Apple iPad
I hate apple, but I have to say, their Ipad is pretty damn solid. Tons of app and hardware support out there for it. I probably will get one before too long.
