I know this a bit early guys, but it runs from July 20th -24th this year. the entertainment is great. This years lineup has Lady A and Jason Aldean as the headliners with other acts including Chris Young, Thompson Square, and Josh Kelley. The stage is excellent, and the people that put this week together do a great job. I am a little biased as this is my hometown, but it really is the 5 best days of Summer. For a small town (about 3,000 people) this is a tremendous country lineup.
BTW - CW if you are a country music fan you need to part-take in this event, you will not be disappointed.
Don't forget Saturday's lineup. Seether, Hinder, and my darkest days. Fair's mixing it up a little bit this year. I just hope it doesn't rain the whole weekend like it usually does. But won't need to worry about any dams breaking this year.
I grew up in neighboring Cedar County....but ya Jones County has always put together a much better lineup. Cedar County gets like the sister or brother of some country singer who had one popular song back in the 70's.
My hometown and its always a huge event. I got track tickets to Jason Alden and I'm jacked up to get hammered drunk and then go to work pollinating corn at 6 a.m. the next day! Its gonna be reckless!!!
The GJCF has a huge reputation for being a top tour destination going back a couple of generations. Somebody a long time ago had a knack for booking acts that were about to hit it big and getting them to come to the fair, and that reputation has continued to pay off.
Johnny Cash played the fair a couple times, Hank Williams, George Jones. IN the country world, if you can say those guys played your gig it opens doors, I am sure.
Wife and I have very very close friends in Anamosa, so we have gone up for the fair the last 4 years. One of our favorite weekends of the year. Might not be able to make it for Thursday night/Jason Aldean this year, which is very disappointing. Hopefully the storms hold off this year. The storms that rolled through the last two years during the concerts were crazyness.
