Ankeny Cardboard Boat Regatta
Some buddies and I will hopefully be taking our cardboard creation on it's maiden and only voyage tomorrow as part of the cardboard boat race. We do have a problem though - we have no oars. I thought I'd be able to track some down, but I've called a bunch of canoe rental places and they don't have any. Has anybody else done this? Do you think some other boat captains will let us borrow some? We'll need four.

There's a cardboard boat regatta near my hometown and one year the Farm Bureau used grain shovels on their boat (it was a catamaran that had a tractor sitting on the hulls).

Sounds like a blast. I've always wanted to try that.

What you might try too is calling Rec services at ISU if they are open before you have to take the boat out. They rent out canoes and kayaks, so they should have paddles for them.

See I don't want to buy them though, they are kind of expensive and I don't have any use for them other than once a year cardboard boat racing.

(BTW - oar - an implement used to propel or steer a boat)

(BTW - oar - an implement used to propel or steer a boat) Oar if connected to the boat. Paddle if hand-held only.

Good luck. Sounds like a pretty cool event.
