Re: Omaha NE property taxes
Am I the only one reading that they took <25% of 1.2 as less than $300k for it while everyone thinks it was around $800k?

I thought the same thing. It's also reading comprehension.

as far as math goes - blame the guy who threw out the 800k figure! :) I just copied/paste his info! :)
again, his taxes will be a lot lower going forward once he contests based on purchase price.

Also ironically, there is a street in north O, Ames ave that seems to be right in the middle of the worst of it. 4 months, a dozen homicides? Thats not really too bad at all. All cities of that size will have murders, crime in Omaha is not "bad" compared to other cities its size.
However, the number of ******** Husker fans is tops in the nation, and when deciding where to live, that is far more important than the homicide rate.

Being from the west side of the state, it's surprising how little crime there is on the DM news. Omaha, it seems like there's a murder or at least drive by every night. And yes, Ames Ave. is pretty much as bad as it gets there.

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there. -

Re: Omaha NE property taxes
Its accurate and BRUTAL. There is no escape. Sarpy Co or Douglas Co. Either one has high taxes. We support the entire states revenue. Its rediculous.

I just realized that the monthly escrow withholding for property taxes is higher than the P&I. Is there any other city in the midwest where you have more than $10,000 in yearly property tax for a home of 2600 square feet. Holy Crap!!!! Any Omaha'ers out there, this is unreal. Its my understanding if you put more then 20 percent down you shouldnt hve to pay pmi insurance... This is what we have done with each house that we bought...
