We had no idea anything was going on until we saw the thousands of people in the streets all evacuated from buildings. We stood outside our firm for about an hour and then were told to go home (along with everyone else in DC).

Supposedly people up here in Detroit felt it - I felt nothing.
By the way, people there seem to be in good humor about it: DC Earthquake Devastation Assessment | The OMB's Lawn Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. I felt it. It went for a solid 20-30 seconds. Ifigured it was just some construction outside that was vibrating things, except that I was talking to someone on the phone in Brooklyn that felt and thought the same darn thing. Oh, n then my wife sent me a text saying "the building just shook! WTF!"

Yeah I was in a room full of glass walls and they started shaking violently. A little unsettling....

Re: Breaking: Earthquake Hits East Coast Near DC
I was on the subway and came up to find the buildings evacuated in manhattan. I didn't feel anything but my office mates were freaked out and my wife definitely felt it in Brooklyn.

Re: Breaking: Earthquake Hits East Coast Near DC
I guess there are several buildings across the DC area that have cracks in walls including the White House and the Washington Monument. The Washington Monument is now being reported as closed indefinitely due to the cracks...
