Cramped Tailgating

ISU has the best tailgating environment I have ever been to and I am sure most of you would agree with me, so it may seem like I am nitpicking here, but has anyone else noticed in the student lot that they are putting people closer together than they have in the past? It seems like there isn't much room to play bags and it also seems like our tailgate tent is about an inch away from touching the tent from the people across from us. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

All that being said, ISU tailgating is still second to none.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the solution is. You see talk about ISU needing another donor lot as well since G7 is full. Maybe that little lot between the student lot and the Vet Med driveway? I would like to see ISU work out a deal with HyVee to have one of their tractor trolleys pick up that far out. Possibly do that out at the Towers as well. Probably won't be as needed later in the season, but especially early on it would help.

If donor parking has to expand if demand gets that high, maybe you'd see more general parking happening at towers. I hope they never take away the student lot for donor parking though, its the closest gen admission lot i think, but its really part of the gameday atmosphere too, and its always cool to pull off of 30 (even at 4 in the morning for some games) and see the party started already in those lots.

I think they should open up some of the intramural fields for parking. It'd be sweet to drive down University BLVD and see a sea of cardinal and gold on both sides of the road.

Most likely they will just raise the cost of donation to get a parking permit.

Athletic department doesn't own the intramural fields. Will never happen. Nor should it. Student fees shouldn't be getting used to pay for upkeep on tailgating messes.

We had a couple first-time ISU tailgaters with us this weekend and that's the first thing they saw coming into town. they were blown away. I hope the student lot stays right where it is and keeps getting packed.

Isn't the G-7 lot also used for the football team's practice field? I've often thought that a fall on one piece of a broken bottle from a tailgate the week before could cause a season ending injury.

I think they should make the student lot the official student lot.
Only ISU students can get passes to the lot.
Open it up the same time they open the Donor lots.
