Re: Netflix Changes
I got the same email. It reveals a level of cluelessness that is almost beyond comprehension. I was immediately reminded of "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room." This executive is sitting in his office believing he is smarter than everyone else and, even after all the backlash, he still thinks so. The arrogance is shocking.
We're sorry for what we did and here's what we're going to do to make everyone OK: We're going to change our name. Isn't that great?
Subscribers are leaving in droves (including me today) and their stock price is plummeting. How he can still believe this is the right thing to do is beyond me.

Re: Netflix Changes
I get a kick out of all the angst over "two seperate websites", and all the supposed extra hassle it will cause. People talking about how they are fine with everything, but having to remember two different web addresses is the last straw. We have truly entered a unique period in human history, when having to remember (gasp) two separate websites to stream or order DVDs is considered a major inconvenience.
Streaming is great for TV shows, but pretty freaking weak for movie selection. They really need to increase that library if they are working towards the streaming only model.

Currently we can add a movie to our queue and if it's available to be streamed, we can do that and just remove it from the DVD queue. It's been very handy with movies added to the DVD queue automatically being added to the streaming list when available.

Wow, if Blockbuster really is a decent option, maybe dropping both is the right call.

Two tabs on the same "Netflix.com" website. Now we will have two separate websites. So I'll open another tab on explorer for the DVD site, and then its basically the exact same thing. At least thats how I envision it. I guess it takes an extra few seconds to type in another web address. To each his own, just doesn't seem like much of a hassle to me.

Re: Netflix Changes
Ok, so maybe I'm not clear.
Today, when a movie is added to the DVD queue, it's automatically added to the instant queue. I'm assuming by separating the 2, this no longer will happen.

Exactly, you will basically have to go to the streaming site first and see if it's even available. If it's not, you will have to go over to the disc site and add it... Then, when you want to watch it, you will have to remember which que it is in...

I realize I'm coming off as a bit of an Anti-Netflix Nazi here, but I cannot fathom to believe how the separation of these services and increasing the prices is a positive move. Especially when they will be losing their largest supplier of "newer" streaming movies. If they don't get something straightened out by then, they may really come into some trouble.

Re: Netflix Changes
Just cancelled. Two sites is too much management and I already have amazon prime. I'll consider picking up Netflix again in the future if they start carrying actual new releases on streaming.

Yes, I remember seeing that news. I guess I'm just waiting to see if they replace this loss with another (maybe better) deal with someone else. Personally I'd like to see them partner with HBO, but I'm guessing that is pretty unlikely.
I agree, the managing of 2 sites is not ideal, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

Re: Netflix Changes
The worst thing about this situation is how the two sites aren't integrated, so I can no longer go down my DVD queue and instant watch something.
