2 Year Sentence for Cat Molestor

A Council Bluffs man arrested on multiple offenses after throwing a cat out of a seventh-floor window was sentenced to two years in prison.

Gerardo Martinez, 30, was arrested on suspicion of bestiality, cruelty to animals and indecent exposure in August after witnesses reported seeing a naked man throw a cat out of a seventh-story window at 405 W. Broadway.

While investigators talked with Martinez about the incident, he admitted “to performing a sex act” on the cat and that he had recently used methamphetamine.

Court documents indicated Martinez pleaded guilty last week to cruelty to animals and the bestiality charge was dropped. Prosecutors did not file indecent exposure charges in the case.

Martinez was sentenced to two years in prison for the cruelty to animals charge and ordered to pay a $625 fine.

He also pleaded guilty to a sex offender registry violation. At the time of Martinez’s arrest at 405 W. Broadway, his address on the registry was listed on North 32nd Street.

For the sex offender registry violation, Martinez was given a five-year suspended prison sentence, two years of probation and a $750 fine.

Okay, I'll admit I don't know any facts surrouding the Troy Davis case, but just from what I've heard it seems as though there is some doubt surrounding his guilt. In my book, if there is any doubt (lack of physical evidence, conflicting eye witness accounts, etc.) then the death penalty shouldn't apply. However, if you get high on meth, cuck a fat, and have a history of child molestation, by all means, please end this man quickly.

Shouldn't that be pled guilty? I guess I shouldn't be surprised as it is a CB newspaper.
