    Check things in this order: Fuse, bulb, blinker relay.

    You don't mention what your vehicle is, but if you have a trailer wiring connector check that also. If something in the harness gets shorted that can prevent your turn signal from working and it could very well be an intermittent short as you describe.

    I had a similar problem several years ago and tore apart and tested EVERYTHING before discovering that the POS flat-4 trailer connector got smashed and two of the contacts were touching.

    Wow... That issue pry would have plagued me for awhile.. Lol and I am a car guy!
