Any frequent travelers out there that have some good advice on car rentals?
The wife and I are heading to Colorado for a wedding in a couple weeks. We already have flight/hotel arrangements taken care of, but now we need to rent a car.
Is it best to just book online? What companies are the best? Any tips on getting a good deal to upgrade to a sports car?

Fwiw...if u are heading to Colorado in a couple weeks you don't want a sports car. Get front wheel or all wheel drive.
I've always had the best luck with Hertz, but I wouldn't call any of them awesome and it varies a lot by city. The best thing that happened for me was AmEx got me on Hertz Gold for free. Zero hassle and free upgrades.

If you know that you are going for SURE - I have had really good luck on the name your own price on Priceline. They only use major chains and in my mind a car is a car. I have normally gotten them to take 50 - 60% of the listed prices. I normally go check the prices and offer half or less (Got a convertible for $12 a day in Hawaii) The down side is they are non-refundable in case your plans change.Quote:
