Need help re. Quad Cities
My Daughter In-Law has been accepted to Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport.
Sooo, my son & her will be moving to that area in May.
We know nothing about the area!
What area of town is recommended, & is ok/safe for living.
They are thinking of buying a small house for the next 3 years, instead of renting, then re-sell it. Is this advisable?
My son has a job in Physical Therapy, so he will be looking for a job there & paying the living expenses.
TIA!

Bettendorf?
Being big on therapy in that town with Palmer, will there be openings?
Buying a house at 4 per cent is not a bad idea.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I graduated from Palmer in 08. My wife and I bought a house and sold it right before I graduated right when the housing market went to crap. We lived on the north side of Locust, which is recommended if they stay in Davenport. Stay away from anything near Palmer. Bettendorf is nice but they could probably find something much cheaper in Davenport.
It is risky to do it that way but if they can buy something right and get it sold when needed, it will obviously save them a ton of money.
PM me with any other questions about the QCA, school, etc

Re: Need help re. Quad Cities
I lived with a palmer student south of locust. Definitely stay north of Locust, My car was vandalized 6 times in 1 year. My favorite place to live was Moline, but above the hill. This is also 6 year old info, areas tend to change over time.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not dude?

Re: Need help re. Quad Cities
It's kind of a gross overgeneralization to say "stay north of Locust". East of Eastern south of Locust (area surrounding Village of East Davenport) is just fine, however, you probably couldn't afford to live down there - that's a big $$$ area. The area south of Locust west of Saint Ambrose isn't terrible either (I lived just north of Locust for a few years), although it wouldn't hurt to invest in a security alarm.
Quite honestly, I'd live south of Locust before I lived in Americana Park (the area west of Brady St between 53rd St and I-80).
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

Re: Need help re. Quad Cities
Palmer grad as of Feb. 2010, lived in LeClaire, IA the whole time. I would give it a look if they like the small town feel as opposed to living in Davenport, Bettendorf, etc. Yeah it took me about 20-30 minutes to drive to Palmer, but it was kind of nice considering it allowed me time to wake up on the drive in and a time to let my brain cool down on the way home. Be sure to check out Park Run Apartments in LeClaire, where we were the whole time with no complaints of neighbors or neighborhood.
Otherwise, I agree with most everyone else in staying away from stuff right by Palmer or downtown Davenport. If you stick toward east Davenport/Bettendorf they'll be fine. Had a few people live in Moline and liked it. Just stay away from Rock Island though, not the greatest and definitely the least of the 4 Quad Cities in my opinion.
Also available for any questions, just PM me.
