    Re: Ghost Chilli Pepper

The Ghost Pepper is no longer the hottest pepper in the world. It held that distinction in 2007, but is now #5 on the list, which is absolutely crazy that the hottest in the world is 3x hotter.

So how do they actually measure this?

And when do peppers start killing people who eat them?

Scoville units are the measuring stick.

For now, soon it will be changed to deaths per year.

It is how much water you can dilute it with and still taste the heat.

Scoville units are just a way to put heat into specific units (like speed into mph). I worked in a lab where one of the tests we performed was scoville units. Basically we did simple extraction and ran the individual samples on a high pressure liquid chromatography and compared the graphs to a known control, which was cayenne pepper. It's fairly simple.

    Re: Ghost Chilli Pepper

Last time I checked the Ghost Chili was still the hottest naturally growing pepper and that the other two ahead of it were actually ones that didn't occur naturally and were basically created in a lab.

Hello, is this GBM? You wrote in the personals that you're looking for a soul mate. Well, I also like rainy days and movies.

No, I don't like "that"...Or "that"...It's not that I'm afraid... I'm going to hang up now, bye!
