Well, that money FOX is paying to the Big 12 and Pac-12 etc. isn't going to materialize out of thin air.
Unless the government steps in somehow, I expect the "carriage wars" to become a way of life, especially with the networks that have a heavy sports emphasis. Every time a contract is up with a carrier, the peeing match will commence.
We all get giddy when our conference gets a nice fat TV deal, but advertising can't generate all of that money. It is inevitable that the networks will ask for more $$$ from the carriers.
"Don't worry Boss...they can't do nothin' 'til they're through sparklin'..."
Fox Networks and DIRECTV have reached an agreement for DIRECTV to continue carrying all Fox Networks (including FX, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD, SPEED, FUEL TV, FOX Soccer, FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Deportes), Fox’s regional sports networks, Fox Broadcasting (FOX), the FOX local stations, Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. We both know the past ten days have been challenging, but we’re pleased that both sides could eventually come together to ensure our viewers continue to enjoy Fox programming.
I think this proves that it can happen to any provider. Cable and satellite companies have both had these issues. I sure wouldn't switch because of something that will be over within 2 weeks.
