Hey all, I've got a problem with my desktop. After a short time of use, the screen goes black as if no input is coming out anymore. It doesn't appear to be shutting down, throwing any sort of error that I can see, etc, just nothing on the monitor.
I'm rounding up another monitor to try to make sure it's not the monitor, could be the video card? Anything else that could cause this behavior?
Overheating issue?
Not sure, I left it dead overnight and fired it up this morning, worked for about 10 minutes and did it again.
You should measure the temps of the computer to see if the video card is overheating.Quote:

Okay downloaded speedfan to test temps, gpu was at 100 celsius and climbing, so immediately shut it down.

yeah, sounds like gpu is overheating... pull the cover off and see if the fan is working... if not, you can try to replace the fan, use your onboard graphics if you have them or buy a new graphics card...

Plan on opening it up once I get back home
Do you have pets? Sometimes the openings can get clogged up with pet hair. We have two cats who are on permanent shed mode, and have to clean out the computer ever couple months or so.
