Any Apple IPAD experts out there???? Help needed
I have Ipad 2. I plugged in for the first time in a while and the IPAD backed up and then I downloaded IOS 5...mainly because my nephew asked about it and said how 'cool' it was.
Anyway, I waited for Itunes to go through the SYNC process (up in top center place) and (it was late) when I got done my IPAD shows the 'set up' menu. I've tried to restore the ipad and although itunes see's my ipad, my ipad does NOT see itunes.
IE I hit the restore on itunes and it goes through the whole process (up on top center of itunes...apps / music / pics....) and in the end the IPAD is still showing the 'set up' initial deal (black / white....set (location services then wi-fi then set up ipad (chose restore from Itunes backup) showing the blue itunes button and a USB cable (on top say 'connect to itunes')
I've tried doing a hard restart (front button and power) but it that doesn't help. It appears that I have my back up in itunes...but I'm a noob enough to not want to lose all of that and have to start over again.
Any help from fellow cyclones would be great.

I just hoped some young pup out there would be an apple expert. I need to go pull a 5th grader out of school. -

Where's the ******-bag MaccloNe from the Android app thread? He supposedly knows everything about Apple products.

I wonder if doing a recovery will fix it?
I'd do it but I'm worried about screwing something up...

I'd do it but I'm worried about screwing something up... You may have to. There are a few folks who had trouble with the upgrade. Apple recommends that you reset your ipad to factory defaults before you upgrade anyway, just in case there are any bugs.

Did you upgrade iTunes to 10.5 first?

If I set up as a new IPAD...can I rebuild it as my current IPAD 'verizon IPAD2'???
Or is there a way to load to icloud from itunes? Then back up the IPAD from ICLOUD?

I had to do a hard reset on mine before the install would work. Everything was backed up to iTunes, so I didn't lose anything.

Have you tried a different USB port?
My iPad did the same thing (only because my kid unplugged it from laptop much to my dismay)
I ended up setting it up as a new iPad connected to a different laptop, completing upgrade and then re-Hooked it to my laptop and restored it.
But yes, I know others hit the same issue you are hitting. Worse contact apple support via phone or store. That's ur best bet if other options fail.

You took your IPAD in 'set up mode' and put it on another computer and set it up as IPAD X. You installed IOS5 and had an IPAD that was clear except for factory settings?
Then you took clear IPAD X and went back to original PC and restored 'IPAD Veriozon 2' (my name before upgrade)???
And that fixed everything?

Yes, I just set it up as brand new iPad in second laptop, installed iOS 5 (or reinstalled) and it was factory defaults.
Once that was complete I went back to original laptop and restored from previous back up.
Important note...I was drinking heavily this night too. You may want to add that in to ur efforts.
