Pet Insurance - Is it Worth It and Where?
Just adopted an Australian Shepherd from the ARL this past weekend and had our first vet visit last night. I know my company offers a voluntary benefit for Pet Insurance, and ARL provides a 30 day complimentary insurance when adopting a pet.
I was interested to see if it would be worth continuing, and where some good options are for comparison?
Oh and here is a photo of Coda.

I would have named it Led Zeppelin III, but to each their own.
As for pet insurance, it is like about anything else. If you have it, you won't ever need it, don't have it and the dog will need a $5K operation.
I can only say that I have had a hunting dog that is extremely active for 10 years and I haven't spent nearly enough on vet bills for her to justify the premiums.

I have had a hunting dog for 5 years now and really wish I would got the pet insurance. After 2 episodes of pancreatitis, a broken tooth, and now seizures I think it would of saved me a ton of money. But this is the first god I have had where it would of been beneficial.

A 9mm shell is much cheaper and you can apply it yourself!

From what I've heard, it's pretty affordable. I'm sure there are different levels of coverage and such. In addition to saving money on vet bills, it could potentially make a very tough decision a lot easier. A lot of people wouldn't want to drop 5 G's on a surgery and instead just put the dog down but if you have insurance, the difference in cost could sway you to go ahead with the surgery. Just my thinking. I've been toying with idea of picking it up for my dog as well.

Kind of my thought too. But just want to be sure I get something that makes sense too...
