Repo shows on A&E
When the repo shows first started on A&E, I thought they might be pretty interesting. After watching a couple of shows, I started to get suspicious that they were totally fictitional, so I stopped watching them. The other night, while flipping through the channels, I came across "Bear Swamp Recovery" trying to repo construction equipment at a job site. While trying to take a cement truck that was conveniently parked right next to a Jaguar with an open sunroof and the chute of the cement truck directly over the sunroof, the "owner" starts brawling with the repo man in the truck. You guessed it, cement filled the Jag through the open sunroof. Then a luxury car pulls up and a slim lady with a foreign accent and a slinky gold dress and high heels gets out and claims to be the owner.
Come on man!
Worse than WWE. A&E has some good shows like Parking Wars, Storage Wars, used to have the Dogfight series (airplanes, not actual dogs), Hoarders and Dog The Bounty Hunter, although I sometimes wonder about the authenticity of that show too. I can't stand those repo shows now, they must think we are fools.
Slow day, not much else to comment on.

Re: Repo shows on A&E
Fortuntately I caught on the first episode. I was at Buffalo Wild Wings last night and Speed Channel was on. Looked like some of those shows might have been staged as well.

Pickers, Pawn Stars, etc. are all staged. I've known some of the people on some of these shows and they are full of ****. Of course this is what "entertainment" has turned into.

Re: Repo shows on A&E
Some of the shows have a disclaimer at the end that they're "based on actual events" - the TV networks take plenty of liberty with their interpretation of how the events unfolded.

How dare you diss Operation Repo! Good times on Hawkeyenation.com after the 2010 Wisconsin Game! -
Re: Repo shows on A&E
Who would have thought these weren't staged? Would you actually show up to repo a vehicle with a camera crew?
I can't believe the crap they put on TV.

It's not so far fetched that a tv crew would want to film a repo company. If they do it legitimately, it might be interesting to see what actually happens. They would probably have to film hundreds of hours to make a 1/2 hour show, because I'm sure 90% of repos go off without a hitch. It's not like I was a complete dope and believed it was authentic for years. Some of those shows are not staged, like Deadliest Catch, Parking Wars, Storage Wars (hopefully).
