Re: Speed cameras throughout Polk County?
But they probably won't give tickets unless you're going 10mph or over the speed limit. Once this isn't enough money they can adjust that to 8mph over the limit or maybe 6mph. Hell if 60 mph is the speed limit than 60.1mph should get you a ticket.
The next thing we'll probably see is one camera at mile marker 50 and another at mile marker 70 and if you "beat the time", you'll get a ticket in the mail.

Re: Speed cameras throughout Polk County?
Here in Albuquerque, the redlights are losing 100g a month, so the city council just voted 5-4 to stop them. I am pretty sure the Mayor has to sign off on stopping them, but there was a symbolic vote by voters to stop them, so he might be compelled to turn them off.
You see, when people dont pay their fines and there is a contract with an out-of-state company, the city is on the hook for the contract. All in all, the company made 18 million dollars and the the city made 7 million. I dont know if that is per year or since they were put in, but I am almost giddy that a collective people has said the hell with this.
I would be happier about the red lights being on, only if the company made less than the city.
(another issue was people in roswell wanted in on the action and people in albuquerque said that that money should stay in albuquerque, where the violations happened, and the state tried to come in and get a cut, but when they couldnt, they forced albuquerque to stop cameras on state funded roads.)
Sports journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read. -

(I get a good laugh when the vet school gets a delivery of a possible "Chupacabra".)
