Bought my mom a laptop last year for $249.
Great time to get stocking stuffers. Here is out strategy, find the slower Walmarts- usually the more rural areas.
We take camping chairs, food, and entertainment supplies. We map it out, we usually have someones teenager go with us, and they "float" to relieve for bathroom break. And Walmart lets everyone wait in lines inside, it's not chaos, until the bell strikes the hour. But if you in line, you get your item, and can be on your way, or fight the crowd for other deals. Usually, they have great deals on movies and little electronic stuff that is good stocking stuffers at that time.
This. Last year I went to the regular Walmart by grand over the Super Walmart on Duff. Heard people come from the Super Walmart said it was total chaos.

Re: ***Black Friday Deals***
I love the black friday sales, but I have just not seen a lot of things I would get up in the middle of the night to get. There are some great deals on TVs, but I have replaced most of my old tube TVs in the last couple years. Menards always has some good deals on small ticket items, and they do usually have more than 2 sale items in stock.

You will, obviously, find more deals at once going to the stores. My comment was including the value of my time and sanity by not setting foot in a store on B.F.

Re: ***Black Friday Deals***
Best Buy has some good deals. That being said, it sucks because I live a block from Michigan Ave in Chicago. Everyone and their dog is going to be out tonight and will be impossible to get any of it unless i start to stand in line starting in a few hours.

Re: ***Black Friday Deals***
I was heading to eastern Iowa and saw a dozen people lined up at Best Buy in Coralville at 10:00 AM. On the way back tonight at 5:00, there were probably 100 people in line. Not my idea of spending Thanksgiving!

People are pretty dumb IMO. Doesn't cyber monday have better deals half the time anyway?

Yeah, most of the 'deals' arent much better than you'd find on a good day on amazon.com. Most of the 'doorbusters' are things like low end tvs and laptops that theyre trying to get rid of.

Here is one of the first great laptop deals online (from Fry's Electronics, shipping will likely run $10-20 but no tax): http://www.frys.com/product/6787245#detailed
