Don't think its free cuz its not

    Page Plus Plan $30 a month 2 years = $720

    Verizon plan $65 a month(?) 2 years = $1560

How are you even comparing those plans?!?

Page Plus - $30 you get 1200 minutes, 3000 text & 100 MB data not to mention you have the choice of 3 Kyocera phones. I'm sorry but I don't think that is an equal comparison what so ever for this situation.

Not to mention you only have EVDO data, which would only give you data rates of 3G at very best (no chance of 4G).

You dont have to use a page plus phone any verizon phone will work. I am currently on a Eris and looking for an Incredible 2 (about $200 on craigslist/ebay)

They aren't the same plans but if you plan on using mostly wireless its not relevant. No way I spend an extra $35 a month for an extra 200mb of data. The cell phones in this county are a rip off and no one realizes because they give you a phone and then rape you every month and it kind of pisses me off.

I missed the evdo comment. Thats not true you get 3g. They don't support 4g phone or blackberrys. Other than that you can pretty much just take an verzion phone and activate on their network.

Don't knock the service until you read about it. Howard forums are a pretty good source to read about cell services.

Verizon was doing a promo last week which gave you the 4GB plan for the price of the 2GB data plan. I think this was for 4G phones only. You might check to see if this is still going on.

I think I can only afford the 300MB plan, I will just not use it when I get close to going over. I just need to decide on the phone I want.

Alright, I'll give you the use any phone. But, then for comparison you also need to include the difference in cost of a phone outright compared to a cheaper price when purchasing with a plan.

The whole point though was the data, if you are only using voice/text than I can absolutely agree with going with a service like this. No reason to use a big retailer for those simple things, the big difference comes once you include data. Most that are using a smartphone, in fact the whole purpose of a smartphone is for data, are going to use more than 100MB of data.

I stated above that with EVDO means you can grab 3G speeds, but will not be able to grab 4G...

You can get some extra life out of your data plan by turning the WiFi on when you are in range of a wireless network.

But really, 300MB isn't much for a smartphone. I've used 80MB in the week I've had mine just through casual use (checking email, downloading a couple of apps, and using GPS/Google Maps for about 10 minutes).

I was talking Ice Cream Sandwich, but yes, it does run Gingerbread once it gets updated.

If you only have 300mbs I wouldnt download any apps of 3g/4g do over wireless and maps are a no no. If you just need to check a map real quick thats fine but navigation or driving with the maps on for very long uses a ton of data.

Ice Cream Sandwhich is not natively on any phone at the moment is it? I know there are lists of which phones will be upgraded, but none of those would be within his range if he wants to keep his initial phone cost to a minimum.
