Best way to post gifs?

For whatever, reason, they either don't show up in the upload menu for me, or don't appear correctly in the post when they do. How do I do that?

Also- why can't I copy and paste from Firefox? I always have to do that from IE if I want to.

I like how we aren't supposed to have gif avatars, yet a mod (bos?). Had one a few days ago.
