No. The other option is Qwest, but it sucks too depending on where you're at. Sadly, Mediacom pretty much has the market cornered.

Qwest and Century Link are now one in the same. We have Century Link, and dont have any problems at all really, but also dont use the internet for anything more than browsing.

Hmmm I had heard they were potentially merging, didn't know it happened already.

I have the Century Link 5mb (not the lowest, the next one up) on DSM southside. It's just fine for me. Netflix operates smoothly.
In-laws have the bottom barrel 1.5mb, Netflix still works, though I will get frustrated browsing at times. But some of that I think is just their home network issues.
Anyway, with the 5mb, it really hasn't impacted how I operate on line, if the 5mb is available, you should be fine.
The nice thing about Century Link is my internet always works. Mediacom's downtime was ridiculous.
And the internet works in the rain. With Mediacom rainy days and internet access was a minor miracle.

Unrelated to this - What about reliability of Direct TV satellite internet service. Any bundle users out there with comments.

I'm not sure - but probably location makes a difference. I'm in Ankeny and have Mediacom Internet and it is rarely down. I do find I need to unplug my router and modem occasionally to reset them. But a true outage has been a rarity.

Mediacom in ankeny is cheap and works well for us.
Had a lot more problems with Qwest

Do you have just internet (not bundled with cable) and if so what do you pay?
